I have written out some tips for working from home that help me which may also help you!
For some working from home is a dream- let me tell you it is for me! I love the comfort of working from home. Having my hair up in a messy bun and wearing cozy loungewear, is life.
However, it’s not a luxury I get to experience often. Due to the nature of my role, I have to be in the office to attend meetings, etc. 95% of the time.
One of the easiest ways for me to feel more energised in the morning is by hopping into the shower. I do this as soon as I wake up and have a glass of lukewarm lemon water.
On my work from days home, I have a cup of coffee- if I am super tired and then breakfast. Or I have a smoothie followed by a herbal tea (usually a peppermint tea) shortly after.
I know working in pyjamas may sound ideal but I like wearing an oversized jumper and leggings so I’m comfy but still able to leave my house to do errands etc. if you need to.
To do my best work, I create a comfortable space to work in… I usually sit at my desk in my bedroom with my candles lit up and as air humidifier on. Otherwise, I sit on my bed if I want the extra comfort.
Find a space in your home where you’ll be comfortable and able to work without distractions or noise.
If like me you have a ton of work to do with deadlines on top of that, then create yourself a schedule.
I write a to-do list and divide it into four columns- using Steve Covey’s time management matrix (see below).
I do this so I can prioritise my day better. I also use Asana (a desktop and mobile application designed to help you/your team organise, track, and manage your/their workload) to keep track of all the projects and/or deadlines I’m working on.
Both a to-do list and Asana allow me to stay organised and avoid procrastination. It may also help you. Try it!
It’s important to take a break from looking at your screen and it is even more important to go outside and stretch your legs.
I live by the riverside where I like to take a walk to my local coffee shops where and I always grab a matcha vanilla latte, chai latte, or a pumpkin spiced latte (in the fall/winter).
If I’m out for 30mins+ I also check emails, Instagram, etc. If I have a short break I put my Airpods in and listen to a podcast, ensuring I have no screen time until I get back to work.
